efcosPlays: My gut feeling tells me that we are all missing the big picure. Valve's strategy isn't about their hardware. These devices only serve as an entry point to their software, eliminating windows as a "middle man" to their ecosystem. The product here is SteamOS.
johnparker8259: When you're owned by big $$$ backers like Krafton and Tencent you're not longer indie.
alexsudati: About the Steam Machine: I'm primarily a PC gamer, my husband is a console gamer. He HATES the whole idea of settings and tweaking to get the best results, he wants a plug and play experience. I showed him the Steam Machine and since then he's been asking me EVERY SINGLE DAY if I it's out yet.
His argument is that it looks like a console, he doesn't have to build it and set it up from scratch and that there's some games he wants to play that are PC ONLY. Even though we have a PS5, Xbox Series X and a Switch 2, he still wants to try PC games without the hassle. Also, he's playing Ghost of Yotei on QUALITY mode (4K 30fps) because "it looks better". So yeah, he's the target audience
Tigerpaw4000: I think one of the biggest handicaps affecting Last Epoch is its size and scale of content planned. The campaign is still not finished yet. While we do have all three specs for the five classes released, there are very obvious gaps with specs and base classes having fewer skills than the others, not to mention that a lot of the older skill trees probably need to have a significant overhaul to bring them up to the more recent development work. If 11th Hour had kept the scale of the core game a bit tighter - and finished it! - then using that as a launching point for LE 2 could have been an option...but it's hard to imagine that the development of LE as we currently know it could have possibly been completed fully by now. While I do enjoy the game quite a bit (it easily has the best loot-drop system of all the aRPGs out there - you can really "use the whole buffalo" to upgrade your items!), the overall progress towards completion is pretty slow which undoubtedly puts a massive strain on your resources, so getting external help was inevitable (as indicated by the devs themselves). =^-^=
swiftbow2110: I don’t think folks understand how good Guild Wars 1 was. I played that game for years and you get it all for $20 bucks. Unreal.
vloos: all games should be classified by budget. (like fighting is by weight?)
Ferdnmn: Can’t wait for the Druid !
Mhoramdude: I am the target market for the Steam Machine. I am a console player with controller in hand, since Pong. I was planning to get a PS6 next gen... mostly to play some Sony exclusive single player games. Those are actually on Steam. I love aRPGs - there are many good aRPGs not on console. I also do lots of retro, and was planning to upgrade the machine I run Batocera on. All of that is covered by the Steam Machine. My rule each console gen is "follow the games". I also play on a 1080p TV. There are a lot of gamers that are not the "I build my own PC" type and casuals.
somuchfortalent: is GGG planning to address performance issues on consoles with the next patch?
MeowVlog11: i thought the term was double A studio was a thing for these 50-300 smaller studio. who are also not owned by billion dollar companies etc
fifty2eighty-1: I’m not paying more than 600 for a steam machine
Glitch_Online: in regards to the Steam Machine, if i didnt' already have a good pc.. i'd buy it for $800... i'd be one of those rare 'niche' purchases ... not due to any 1 in specific niche, but you did mention many separate points that would apply to me.
chicomanara: Hope they improve PoE 2 performance. My Pc could handle it at low specs, but last league game became umplayable.
sephirian688: There are two major benefits to the steam machine that are seemingly undervalued by anyone covering it. (Not saying anyone in particular)
1. There is an entire sea of games that are pc only, most of the best city builders, hundreds of chill/relax games, etc. combine that with steams “on-sale” benefits and it’s a traditional console gamers wet dream.
2. Online access, unless something has changed the Steam Machine will not require a paid subscription for internet. So even if there was a $200-$300 difference in the upfront cost of the Steam Machine over PS5 in the long run it will still be the cheaper option, especially if you consider it alongside number 1.
So while it may be weaker than the PS5 it ultimately provides FAR
aurelia713: Hey Rhykker
davidespinosa7097: As someone that is part of the 70% demographic (I still have an RX580), I would buy the Steam Machine if it's a significant upgrade. I personally don't allocate my money on powerful hardware, so the Steam Machine is interesting. I don't think of Sony or Xbox when making my decision, tho. The way I see it, I just need the Steam Machine to run current demanding games (I don't need max settings, 4K, ray tracing and other shenanigans), and upcoming games. If it does a good job at that, I'm sold.
Maizan24: I think it was a bad move for le to join them. Will have to see how it plays out.
rayvanderlinde2919: Yes, but can it play PoE 1 and 2 at 60fps when doing breach and abyss?
jf2849: So basically if you are still waiting for Last Epoch to come to Xbox give up it’s probably never happening.
unknownXIIX: Love the constant Borderlands 4 news updates.
endersblade: I really, REALLY hope the druid is situated in the Skill Tree in such a fashion that I can make a viable thorns build. I really wanna do a thorns bear for some reason.
mshalls7614: I stopped owning PC's a while ago - laptops for work only. So getting another windows box and gearing it up is too much work for me. I do like the steam catalog compared to PS5 catalog. And depending on how well it runs I might pay for a Steam box for the convenience and game selection.
eyeofthasky: 750 bucks for the "garbage" (comparably to what a pc can do with even affordable proce) in a ps5 pro, and u call that "sold at a loss" ???
MrTieeeem: Thank you for calling out Valve on an average product. Im so tried of their sycophants
gröntapelsinöl: I think the Steam Machine is a great product for someone’s “first PC.” My nephew, for example, plays on a console but has no PC. The Steam Machine could fill the console’s role and give him a PC for other tasks. Building a PC is still relatively expensive, and for people who have no idea how to go about it and end up with a shitty prebuilt, this could be an alternative option for them.
esqalibur: omg
Davivd2: RIP to Last Epoch. It's only a matter of time before Krafton fold or fires the devs.
