The real problem is the huge ammount on multiplicative boni and therefor the exponential power increase, resulting in builds on a whole different scale.
In D2 on the other hand, while it certainly had builds that were better than others, given that most boni are additive the power level is much closer together, and also meme-builds can complete the game if you are knowledgable and patient enough.

Not sure if they could make a whole rework in D4 tho...

benjb4386: I used to give the dev team, “the benefit of the doubt”, when 90% of the player base wrote them off. I’ve now lost all hope. The game has no clear path or direction. They keep throwing shit at the wall just to see what sticks.
DooM1981x: I wish we had only one difficult.
And we can scale the different gamemodes (helltide, Horde, NMD etc etc) itself in some ways to get more difficult = more and better loot.
Devoluzion: I agree with the overall sentiment. I really hope they don't just raise torment as an answer to the ridiculous powercreep. I'd rather they nerfed/squished every number (for real this time...), so we hit for thousands and not trillions.
Essemlol: adding more torments is a very temporary bandaid fix. Look at D3, the history repeats itself. 16 torments levels and we STILL oneshot everything outside of pushing grifts. It will be the same in D4.
This video could be straight out of a D3 video from 14 years ago or something. "adding more torments will make it more challenging guys" "it will smooth out the difficulty curve" Look where it ended up.

All this does is making anything between torment 1 to max torment irrelevant a desert. Just like D3.
gopatriots1991: This feels like a cop out. There have been complaints about billions trillions damage since launch and they've proven they're unable to balance the classes and skills we've had for 2 years now. So their solution is, give up on balance and just build new difficulties. Then just like they did with pit after the big damage and balance changes (where nobody hit pit 100), have a season where nobody hits the new torment 10, then BARELY adjust classes the following season and say "oopsie we over tuned difficulty" and dial hp and enemy damage on all torments back a little till a certain player count can hit that threshold.

scottbyers9258: Diablo 4 is the result of launching a game with no direction other than "release game, make money". I almost dont even want a diablo 5 from blizzard at this point, at least not from current blizzard.

Arelius.D: Item progression is the only solution, and that would create the situation that going from one torment to another meaningful but also doable.

Playing the game would actually reward the player and it would create actual itemization.

Nothing else fixes the broken game.

lughor82: There are two major issues in this game.
1. The balancing needs to be much closer.
All viable builds should be within about 15 Pit levels. That's about 30 to 50 times as much damage. We could argue that 10 times the damage between a S-Tier build and a B-Tier build is big enough and that would only be 10 Pit levels.
2. We need challenging content for all Torment Tiers.

The game should be divided into three parts.
1. Early leveling (1-60)
2. Late leveling /early endgame (lower Torment Tiers)
3. Endgame (upper Torment Tiers)

The developers told us that the goal in the Pit is about level 80 to 85. With more Torment Tiers, even pit 90 or 100 could be its own difficulty for all content in the game.

I think there should only be two real endgame Torment Tiers, one around Pit 85 for the more casual gameplay and one around Pit 95 for the more extreme gameplay experiance.
At the lower levels of the Pit we need a few late leveling Torment Tiers. At the moment we have
Pit 10 - 24: T1
Pit 25 - 39: T2
Pit 40 - 54: T3
Pit 55 and above: T4

I would consider Pit 10 to 39 this late leveling phase and would create:
Pit 10 - 19: T1
Pit 20 - 29: T2
Pit 30 - 39: T3

The early endgame could be:
Pit 40 - 49: T4
Pit 50 - 59: T5
Pit 60 - 69: T6
Pit 70 - 79: T7

And the late endgame could be:
Pit 80 - 89: T8
Pit 90 - 99: T9

Even with this reasonable amount of Torment Tiers, some of them could be too empty too fast.
The devs need to find a solution where all leveling is done in T1 (up to Pit 49), but let's call it T0.
And everything above is only done in four Torment levels.
Pit 50 - 64: T1 for casuals
Pit 65 - 74: T2 for normal players with normal builds
Pit 75 - 84: T3 for normal players with meta builds
Pit 85 - 99: T4 for streamers and extreme players with meta builds

I don't know if this is even possible, but we need Torment levels for the endgame, to make content viable for all players.
For the late leveling phase, we don't need extra Torment levels that will be empty very fast.
All these Endgame Torment Tiers will never be empty because it will be the endgame Torment Tier for a group of players.
Abesstu: They need start nerfing everything, to the point that t4 is bearly playable. I don’t want 20 different difficulties and every item with 10000x damage multipliers.

Not____Applicable: More torment tiers sounds terrible especially considering didn’t Colin say they would never repeat that mistake of Diablo 3 in a previous interview? Why are they ditching that philosophy all of a sudden?
th3yt: I think they cornered themselves with the whole everything must be available in t1 thing and any attempt to add some progression to the end game is going to be met with backlash despite it being a better game for having it

GBIGBIGBI: I lost all hope that D4 will ever be a good game.
Avenexful: Blizzard was doing squishes for years... but I think they're scared to squish D4 because it might cause people to quit the game if they can't zoom and see dozens of "zeroes" in their damage anymore.
