Diablo 4s SKILL TREE OVERHAUL IS COMING! Huge Reveals

Jul 31 2025

andredornelles8014: This is Blizzard, I only believe it if I see results. Everything else has absolutely 0 value
nokkprime: Yay, a bunch of skills and nothing fun to do with them after you’ve got all your gear. Pit pushing is boring asf. End game needs a MASSIVE MASSIVE overhaul
SandorKleh: Let's be honest; Now the Legendary gear = normal, 1-2GA = rare, 4GA = Mythic, Mythic = almost absent magically obtainaible mostly unsusable sparks

Aaand for the gods and devils sake put in more items overall, New transmogs, New aspects, New Legendaries etc....
derrickcall9307: I have no problems with the skill trees. Time would be better spent on Balancing, Endgame, More Class Variety, etc.
sledgehammer5414: Make a video on the new tempering bug please
kaintkk: a game cant be save just because you change a skill tree, rofl
Ge_n_Ge: We need leaderboards more endgame, gear more like D2 and maybe some PvP love
scottbyers9258: Am i yhe only one qho likes the simplicity of the talent tree? I look at something like PoE's tree and immediately feel disheartened. The diablo talent tree is approachable without having a build guide opened at all times.
JerynToney: Great. More ways for them to mess up their damage calculations. This change is just going to make the game worse. They need to reduce the numbers so that when they mess up a single digit in their calculations, it doesn't blow up into something that increases damage by the trillions. Meta that revolves around the latest bugs is bad design. This season, its Azurewrath.
360Fov: I'm enjoying playing D4 right now
JanMitkaa: Talent tree is fine if u ask me, we need item drops rework tbh, I did 30 runs on Belial on T3 and did not even see a mythic item drop
russelljackson8153: Tempering and Masterworking are the two most broken parts of the game and until they are fixed, the game will continue to bleed players.
maciej_ru: Overhaul? Does this mean that this game is finally coming out of beta? WOW! Better later than never
zofia077: I have been saying this since day one and many others. I hope to see massive changes and far more depth to the tree skills, rather than focusing on gears, stones, seasonal skills and so on.
krabby_jr5068: yo. Thank u 4 your content much lov been watching a while now love. Your videos
frankwhite420: This is great news about the equipment. Im new to arpg. I understand using the equipment as a end game goal something to look for... I would prefer if my build and playstyle being something I can choose via the skill tree. As it is right now your build is actual minimum cause with the right gear low tier can be high.
TonyTheTemplar: I'm excited for that. The reason I don't like POE is because your character power is behind items and it kills the class fantasy. With the skill tree in D2 you could still be powerful without any equipment on
max417481: Everything helps opening more options for more builds gives more oxigen to the game
vyktorzhuravlev8304: The Russians have an expression for such case: "It doth not hurt to dream."
thomasschuldt9001: Soon in blizzard language is usually 2035
edgezero1557: End game when tho?
thorbenmeyer152: Rework the items with cubing receips, real runewords and uniques which give u good adds ant arent neccesary to play a build....

Make white/blue/yellow items greate again!
AtumRaMaat: This seems backwards. Power and efficiency should come from experience, leveling skills and mastery. Gear and aspects should add the customization. a Helmet that changes the way a shout works, or a weapon that changes a skill or attack.... boots that modify mobility or evade. That makes more sense than " add a barrier and your damage goes up 60x.

They had the skill tree right in Diablo 2. Levels and synergies. passives.

Ex. Level frost bolt as a basic skill, then later level up Frozen orb. Since frozen orb explodes and shoots out frost bolts, boosting points into the basic attack of frost bolt should strengthen and synergize the frozen orb. Doing the same with frost nova could increase the explosion damage of frozen orb.

Hydra could get synergy boost from fire bolt or fire blast, or you could go with meteor/hydra then find an item that changes the projectile to a meteor hydra, or an inferno hydra, or some elemental bending item that turns it into a frost hydras.

90% of the items that drop in the game now are Charsi food. A quarterstaff shouldn't do the same base damage as a polearm since one has blades and the other doesn't. However a quarter staff should be lighter without those blades and supply better mobility or defensive stats ( which it technically already does with increased block chance, but both weapons have the same base damage)

The idea that an aspect can increase your damage based on your block chance just seems weird though. Start dropping items with skills rolls or damage type synergies. You could have an item like a weapon chain for barbs that takes all melee skills and turns them into a throwable variant on the third use that one or more enemies in.

They have a damn game that is almost 30 years old and still maintains an die hard fanbase, even though it didn't have end game. Now they have a new complex game with plenty of end game options and shit gear/skill planning. The formula for how this should work is already there.
phillipbirdsong8101: All these "new features" they add are just pasted from Diablo 3. Putting skill modification effects on the skill tree is the same thing as the d3 rune system.
D2Mephisto: My trust with Blizz is less than zero. This is a "believe it when I see it" thing. Not gonna be hyped. Think about "loot reborn" -- that was when they introduced masterworking and tempering, two HIGHLY HATED systems. So don't hold your breath, y'all. They might fix two or three problems with a skill tree re-design, and yet they might also introduce 2, 3, or even 4 new systems or things that we end up F*CKING HATING. Be careful what you wish for, especially with Diablo 4 development/developers/patches, because you might not like what you get at the end of the day. IMO, masterworking and tempering are both dogsh*t. They add nice power and affixes that you can't get elsewhere, but all the RNG, high costs, and the grindy nature of these systems leaves me with nothing but contempt for them. I worry the skill tree re-design will just do the same. Make some things a bit better, but introduce new things that players end up HATING. And we see how stubborn Blizzard is -- people have been calling for Quality of Life updates / nerfs to costs / improvements to both tempering and masterworking, and it all falls on the deaf ears of the development team. They just ignore player feedback and let these two AWFUL systems remain terrible and fail to ever update or improve them in any BIG, MEANINGFUL way. The only thing they did that I can recall is move some temper manuals around to make it so most don't have more than 3-4 choices (to help with the RNG), and they nerfed the materials cost of fully resetting an item's masterworking. They never actually lowered the cost of masterworking, and they have never given us EVEN AN OUNCE of player choice or agency with tempering -- it's still 100% RNG bullsh*t system.

Sigh.
